Croz dell'Altissimo, Mountain summit in Brenta Dolomites, Italy.
Croz dell'Altissimo is a mountain summit in the Brenta Dolomites with two distinct peaks and steep rock faces. The southwest wall rises roughly 900 meters vertically from the Valle delle Seghe below.
The mountain was developed for technical climbing in the early 1900s by mountain guides and alpinists who created demanding routes. These pathways continue to shape climbing traditions in the region today.
The mountain hosts numerous climbing routes, including the Armani-Fedrizzi Dihedral and Via Detassis, which demonstrate the evolution of Italian mountaineering techniques since the 1930s.
The starting point for visits is Molveno village, where a cable car transports people to a mountain hut serving as the base for climbing routes. Multiple pathways begin from this location with varying levels of difficulty.
The east face of the mountain drops sharply toward Lake Molveno, creating a natural rock amphitheater. At sunrise and sunset, the limestone walls are bathed in soft light.
