The church features a 75-meter bell tower decorated with painted majolica tiles and incorporates Ionic, Doric, and Corinthian architectural elements.
Carmelite friars established the church in 1200 after their displacement from Mount Carmel during the Crusades, arriving in Naples through ships from Amalfi.
The church preserves the remains of Conradin of Swabia and Frederick of Baden, marked by a statue commissioned by Crown Prince Maximilian II of Bavaria in 1847.
Santa Maria del Carmine opens daily at 6:30 AM, with regular masses scheduled at 7:00, 8:30, 10:00, and 11:00, offering additional services on Wednesdays and Sundays.
The church houses a Byzantine icon known as Madonna della Bruna behind the main altar, celebrated annually with fireworks displays on July 16.
