Cappella Sansevero, Art museum in Naples Historic Center, Italy
The Sansevero Chapel contains thirty statues made of marble, with the central sculpture of Christ covered by a transparent stone veil.
In 1590, John Francesco di Sangro ordered the construction of a private chapel in the gardens of Palazzo Sansevero after recovering from illness.
The building houses the work of multiple Italian artists, including Giuseppe Sanmartino's marble sculpture and Francesco Maria Russo's ceiling painting from 1749.
The museum opens from Wednesday through Monday between 9:00 and 19:00, with entrance fees of 7 euros for regular admission.
The chapel basement displays two anatomical models from 1760 made with beeswax, iron wire, and silk to represent human circulatory systems.
