Forte Bus de Vela

The stone fortification features defensive walls, casemates, ammunition storage areas, and quarters positioned at the entrance of the Vela stream gorge point.

Constructed between 1860 and 1861 as part of the Austro-Hungarian defense network, the fort remained operational until its decommission in 1915.

The European Heritage Label site presents exhibits about territorial conflicts through interactive displays and sensory installations within its restored chambers.

Visitors can access the fort during weekends from June to September, with guided tours available from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Three encircling walls made of pink limestone protect the structure, which contained two 24-pound cannons during its early military service period.
