Villa Erba, Renaissance Revival villa in Cernobbio, Italy
Villa Erba extends over 100,000 square meters along Lake Como, featuring a main residence, service quarters, guest houses, and extensive gardens.
Built in 1894 by architect Giovan Battista Borsani, the property originated from an ancient Benedictine convent that operated until 1784.
The villa contains artistic elements including sculptures by Mazzuchelli, frescoes by Ernesto Fontana, and decorative works by Angelo Lorenzoli.
The ground floor hosts events while the first floor contains offices and a museum dedicated to filmmaker Luchino Visconti.
Two stone lions flank the carriageway entrance, leading to a central structure with a square plan, broad lake-facing staircases, and a panoramic turret.
