Pontremoli Cathedral, Co-cathedral in Pontremoli, Italy

The cathedral presents a large central nave with lateral chapels, featuring a tall dome reaching 38 meters at the intersection of the transept.

Construction started in 1636 under architect Alessandro Capra, replacing the ancient oratory of Madonna del Popolo and nearby structures until completion in 1687.

The interior displays numerous Marian-themed paintings by artists from Tuscan and Emilian schools, including works by Giandomenico Ferretti and Vincenzo Meucci.

The cathedral houses a modern pipe organ built by Balbiani-Vegezzi Bossi in 1961, with three manuals of 61 keys and a pedalboard of 32 notes.

The building holds a 13th-century icon of the Madonna del Popolo, depicted as a Black Madonna, representing centuries of local religious traditions.
