Lago di Piediluco, Lake in Terni, Italy
Lago di Piediluco covers an area of 1.58 square kilometers with a shoreline that runs 13 kilometers around. The water reaches a depth of 19 meters in the central part.
The water is a remaining part of the ancient Velino lake, which formed during the Quaternary through sedimentation. Artificial channels were built later to regulate water levels.
The rowing center of the Italian federation sits on the shore and brings athletes from many countries here. Regattas and training sessions shape the rhythm of the water during competition season.
The water comes from the Rio Fuscello stream and two artificial channels linked to the Velino River. The level stays fairly stable throughout the year thanks to these connections.
Mount Caperno across from the village reflects sounds in a way that earned it the name Echo Mountain. Voices and calls return clearly audible.
