Castello del Boccale

The rectangular castle complex features three round towers alongside the original Medici tower, with large stone-framed windows overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Originally built as a watchtower for the Republic of Pisa in the 16th century, the structure was later transformed into a residential castle under Marchioness Ugolini's ownership.

The castle's architecture reflects multiple transformations, from a military watchtower to a neo-medieval residence, incorporating various design elements through different ownership periods.

Following extensive restoration in the early 2000s by architect Ivano Falchini, the castle now contains multiple private residential apartments with modern amenities.

The castle stands in an area known as Pirates' Cove, where its position on the cliffs made it an effective defensive structure for monitoring maritime activities.
