Santi Fermo e Rustico, Gothic church in Caravaggio, Italy.

Santi Fermo e Rustico is a Gothic church in Caravaggio with a three-part facade featuring five octagonal towers and a large rose window at its center. The building houses the Chapel of the Most Holy Sacrament, designed by Giovanni Battagio, containing artworks spanning different periods.

Construction began around 1200 and the church evolved through multiple architectural phases until the 18th century with contributions from various architects. The bell tower, built between 1500 and 1932, demonstrates how the site developed over an extended period.

The name honors two saints, Fermus and Rusticus, figures whose veneration shaped the identity of this place over centuries. Visitors can observe how this religious dedication influenced the artistic decoration throughout the interior, reflecting the faith practices of medieval communities.

The church sits on Piazza San Fermo in central Caravaggio and is easily accessible on foot. Since it remains an active place of worship, visitors should behave respectfully and be considerate during services.

The bell tower rises to approximately 71 meters (233 feet) and represents an architectural achievement that developed across centuries. Its completion in the 20th century makes it a rare example of a church whose construction process spanned nearly a thousand years.
