San Lorenzo al Ponte, Romanesque church and religious museum in San Gimignano, Italy
The church features a simple brick facade with a portal, a small mullioned window, and frescoes depicting scenes of Saint Benedict inside.
Built in 1240 near a drawbridge of the Bishop's castle, San Lorenzo al Ponte received modifications including the closure of its gallery in 1561.
The interior walls display frescoes by Cenni di Francesco di Ser Cenni from 1413, showing Christ in Glory with the Virgin and twelve apostles.
The museum received 159,322 visitors in 2019, offering regular access to religious art collections and architectural elements from the 13th century.
The left side portico, originally constructed to protect a Madonna and Child fresco, expanded in the 15th century to form an adjacent oratory.
