Torre Chigi, Medieval tower house in San Gimignano, Italy

Torre Chigi stands among twelve preserved towers in San Gimignano, facing the Collegiate Church near Torre Grossa and the Twin Towers.

The Useppi family constructed Torre Chigi in 1280, and after their lineage ended, the ownership transferred to the Chigi-Saracini family through inheritance.

The tower represents the medieval practice of constructing tall structures as symbols of wealth and power among competing merchant families in Tuscany.

Visitors can reserve a dinner experience on the tenth floor, featuring local specialties such as saffron risotto paired with wines from Tenuta Torciano.

The tower contains three stone floors with a first-level portal accessed by stairs, which served as a defensive feature in medieval times.
