Santa Maria della Porta

Santa Maria della Porta is an octagonal church building in Lecce featuring a symmetrical facade framed by classical columns and refined proportions. The interior displays geometric patterns and balanced spatial organization characteristic of 19th-century neoclassical architecture.

The chapel was first built in the 16th century outside Lecce's city walls to serve local travelers and residents. It was completely rebuilt between 1852 and 1858 in neoclassical style as the city expanded and it became a full parish church.
