Santa Maria delle Grazie

Santa Maria delle Grazie is a church with a rectangular layout and side aisles, built from local granite featuring Corinthian capitals and earthenware masonry. The structure was completed in stages, with the convent buildings constructed first and then the church itself.

The building was begun in 1463 under architect Guiniforte Solari, with the convent buildings completed by 1469. The church itself was finished in 1482, making it a nearly 20-year construction project.

The chapels along the side aisles display works by Renaissance artists who followed Lombardy architectural traditions in their designs. You can see how local artistic styles shaped the interior through these decorated spaces.
