Oratorio dei Crociferi

The Oratorio dei Crociferi stands across from the Gesuiti church, featuring eight large canvases that illustrate the Order's history and activities on its walls.

The building originated in the twelfth century as part of a convent established by the Order of the Crociferi to assist soldiers and pilgrims.

Between 1583 and 1592, artist Palma il Giovane created an extensive cycle of paintings depicting significant events of the religious order.

Visits to the oratory require advance reservations and are available Friday through Sunday from 10:00 to 13:00 and 14:00 to 17:00.

The wooden ceiling painting displays the Assumption of the Virgin surrounded by musical angels in its original fifteenth-century setting.
