Palazzo delle Poste Centrali in Florence

Palazzo delle Poste Centrali is a large building featuring eleven arcades on its main facade and two interior courtyards designed for daily services. The structure combines Renaissance-inspired stonework with contemporary steel and glass elements throughout its interior spaces.

Construction began in 1907 under engineer Vittorio Tognetti and was completed in 1917. The project was adapted during building to include telephone services alongside postal operations.

The interior blends local marble work with modern materials, reflecting how Florence combined traditional craftsmanship with new building techniques in the early 1900s. Visitors can see how public buildings of that era mixed historical design references with contemporary construction methods.
