Oratorio di Sant'Eufròsino

The Oratorio di Sant'Eufròsino is a 15th-century building with a single chamber and vaulted ceilings built in Gothic style. Its interior shows the typical layout of a chapel with a stone pulpit along the presbytery wall and a natural spring right beside it.

The earliest written record of this oratory dates to 1102 in a papal document, showing it was already an important place by the early Middle Ages. The building was later enlarged and reconstructed with the Gothic design that visitors see today.

The name comes from a saint who once preached across the Chianti region, and his veneration continues to be felt in this space today. Pilgrims and visitors come here to connect with a religious tradition that has endured through the centuries.

The oratory is located in the village of Panzano near Greve in Chianti and is relatively straightforward to find with local landmarks. It helps to consult a map beforehand since the building sits quietly away from the main roads.

Under the current portico, visitors can see stone blocks from an even earlier chapel dating to the 12th century. These layers show how the site was rebuilt over time while preserving its original purpose.
