Parco naturale regionale Bosco Incoronata

Parco naturale regionale Bosco Incoronata is a protected area along the Cervaro River featuring old-growth oak woodlands, open meadows, and diverse Mediterranean plant species. The landscape includes several distinct vegetation zones that support the region's natural diversity.

The park was formally established in 2006 to protect a remaining fragment of the original lowland forest ecosystem that once blanketed much of the Tavoliere delle Puglie region. This preservation effort maintains a crucial part of what the landscape looked like before agricultural development transformed the area.

The Madonna Incoronata sanctuary within the park draws pilgrims year-round for prayer and religious ceremonies. This spiritual tradition creates a meaningful connection between the natural landscape and religious devotion.

The area lies approximately 12 kilometers south of Foggia and offers access through marked walking trails suited for various fitness levels. Visitors can enjoy nature observation throughout the park and take advantage of educational signage about local wildlife and plants.

The park contains Roverella oak trees that are centuries old, standing as living witnesses to the original forest composition of southern Italy. These ancient trees preserve genetic records of the lowland forests that once dominated the landscape.
