Passo della Crocetta

Passo della Crocetta is a mountain pass in the Ligurian Apennines that connects the coastal city of Rapallo with inland villages such as Orero and Cicagna. The route winds through forested terrain and open meadows as it climbs to about 600 meters elevation.

For centuries this pass has linked the Ligurian coast with inland communities, allowing the exchange of goods between fishing settlements and mountain villages. This trade route shaped settlement patterns across the entire region.

Local cyclists gather at this pass to undertake challenging routes, making it a central point for the regional cycling community in Liguria.

The road to the pass is narrow and winding with steep inclines reaching up to 16 percent for drivers and cyclists. Visitors should drive carefully in fog or rain and allow extra time for the slow ascent.

From this point, hikers gain access to multiple trails leading to nearby peaks including Monte Pegge. These paths offer uncommon views that encompass both the Mediterranean coastline and the inner mountain ranges.
