Ariccia Bridge, Road bridge in Ariccia, Italy

The Ponte di Ariccia spans 312 meters in length and rises 72 meters above the valley, connecting both sides of the Via Appia route.

The construction of this bridge, completed in 1854 under Pope Pius IX, modified the ancient Roman road path to create a direct connection between towns.

Four travertine columns stand at the bridge ends, referencing the Roman milestones that marked distances along the original Via Appia road system.

The bridge reopened for vehicle traffic in November 2022 after extensive restoration works that reinforced its structure with concrete and peperino stone.

The structure required reconstruction after 1944 wartime damage and underwent additional repairs following a partial collapse in 1967.
