Teatro Nicola Vaccaj, Opera house in Tolentino, Italy
The Teatro Nicola Vaccaj features a neoclassical design with painted panels and medallions decorating the alcoves surrounding the main seating area.
The theater opened its doors in 1797 under the name Teatro dell'Aquila, supported by Cardinal Carandini whose coat of arms displayed an eagle.
The theater ceiling displays frescoes depicting Apollo and the muses in Olympus, representing classical artistic traditions of Italian theater design.
Located in Piazza Vaccaj, the theater contains 371 seats and maintains regular programming of dramatic performances, concerts, and theatrical productions.
The original theater curtain showing notable Tolentino figures was lost in a 2008 fire, replaced by an 18th-century curtain created by Fontana.
