Volandia, Aviation museum in Somma Lombardo, Italy.

Volandia is an aviation museum with over 100 aircraft displayed across indoor and outdoor spaces, each organized by flight category. The facility also houses the Flaminio Bertoni Museum, showing the evolution of Italian automobile design.

The museum sits on the grounds of the former Officine Aeronautiche Caproni, founded in 1913 as an aircraft factory. A major restoration project converted the historic workshops into a public space dedicated to aviation history.

The collection shows Italian industrial design through aircraft and automobiles from different periods. Visitors can see how designers and engineers applied similar ideas across both fields.

The site is easy to navigate on foot, with clear signage between indoor and outdoor exhibition areas. Wearing comfortable shoes is advisable since outdoor sections require significant walking and weather exposure.

The museum houses Italy's only airworthy Douglas DC-3, a classic aircraft from the early aviation era. An MD-80 in the collection transported notable figures including Pope John Paul II.
