Santa Maria Assunta

Santa Maria Assunta is a Baroque church building in Mira with a Latin cross floor plan and three chapels positioned along the longer side. The central nave contains six additional chapels that organize the depth of the sacred space.

The current church structure began construction in 1715 following the dismantling of the original building and concluded with its consecration in 1728. This reconstruction was part of the effort to recreate the prayer space with a more modern Baroque design.

The interior displays works by Venetian masters such as Tintoretto and Titian on its walls, while ceiling frescoes come from Ludovico Dorigny and Francesco Fontebasso. This art collection reflects the region's deep connection to artistic traditions that have inspired visitors for generations.

The facade features eight columns supporting statues of the apostles, with additional figures representing saints such as James, Peter, Paul, and Matthew positioned between them. This arrangement shows how carefully the artistic vision was considered when shaping this place.
