Fontana dello Zodiaco, Monumental fountain in Tacito Square, Terni, Italy.
The Zodiac Fountain features a circular structure with a granite base, porphyry crown, and central steel mast surrounded by water basins made of Carrara marble.
The fountain emerged from a 1932 national competition, seeking a monument that would represent the industrial character and hydraulic energy of Terni in the 20th century.
The lower basin contains mosaics depicting twelve zodiac signs, originally created by artist Corrado Cagli in 1934 using colored glass tiles from Venice.
A restoration project in 2020-2021 renewed both the water system and lighting, returning the fountain to its intended functionality after years of deterioration.
The fountain combines industrial materials like steel with traditional elements such as porphyry and Carrara marble, reflecting the city's manufacturing heritage.
