Anaoji, Buddhist temple in Kameoka, Japan
Located in the hills of Kameoka, Anaoji Temple features a traditional pond garden and a main hall containing Buddhist statues and religious artifacts.
Founded in 705 during the Nara period, Anaoji Temple stands as the 21st temple of the Saigoku Kannon Pilgrimage, a collection of 33 sacred sites.
The temple houses a life-sized statue of Buddha in repose, where visitors touch corresponding body parts seeking healing for their ailments.
The temple opens daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with admission fees of 300 yen for the main hall and 500 yen for both hall and garden access.
During the annual Fukyu ceremony on January 3rd, visitors compete to catch red paper fortunes thrown by priests, believed to bring wealth to recipients.
