Kongō-ji, Buddhist temple in Kameoka, Japan.
The temple contains a main hall, traditional Sanmon gate from 1771, and living quarters for priests built according to Japanese architectural principles.
Founded in 1289 by Bukkoku Kokushi during the Kamakura period, the temple underwent substantial reconstruction in 1738 under the supervision of Chief Priest Gyokudo.
The temple displays numerous paintings by Edo period artist Okyo Maruyama, including landscapes and wave scenes that earned national important cultural property status.
The temple stands two minutes from Obata-bashi bus stop, which connects to Kameoka Station through regular Keihan Kyoto Kotsu Bus service.
A white-flowering plum tree over 200 years old grows within the temple grounds, recognized among the 100 historic trees of Kameoka City.
