SCMaglev and Railway Park, Railway museum in Kinjō-futō, Japan
The SCMaglev and Railway Park is a railway museum in Kinjō-futō focused on the evolution of train vehicles in Japan. The building displays about 40 different vehicles, from early steam locomotives to modern magnetic levitation train models, and includes interactive areas and ride simulators.
The museum opened in 2011 and documents the technological development of Japan's railway system from the early 20th century to modern magnetic levitation technology. It was founded by Central Japan Railway Company to make these advances accessible to the public.
The facility showcases the pivotal role of rail transport in connecting Japan's major cities and changing how people move across the country. Visitors walk through spaces designed to show how trains became central to daily life and regional development.
Visiting is easiest from Nagoya airport or city center, as the Aonami Line runs directly to the museum grounds. The site is spacious and easy to explore on foot, with most visitors spending two to three hours here.
Inside, there is a giant working model railroad that recreates scenes from three major Japanese cities and runs continuously during visits. This miniature layout shows the fascination of rail transport from an entirely different perspective.
