Yahikoyama Ropeway is an aerial tramway on Mount Yahiko that transports visitors to the summit in a few minutes. At the top stands a viewing tower where you can see across the surrounding landscape and toward distant waters.
The ropeway began operating in 1958 as one of the first modern mountain transport systems in the region. It made the summit accessible to everyone, not just experienced hikers.
The aerial tramway provides transport to Mount Yahiko near the traditional Yahiko Shrine, connecting visitors with Japanese mountain traditions and religious sites.
The ride from bottom to top takes about five minutes for a quick ascent. You need no special preparation or equipment to enjoy the journey.
The observation tower at the summit slowly rotates as visitors stand inside. This allows people to see all directions while remaining in one spot.
