Yakuri Cable, Funicular railway in Takamatsu, Japan
The Yakuri Cable stretches across 0.7 kilometers with two stations and climbs 167 meters in elevation through the mountainous terrain of Mount Yakuri.
The construction of this mountain railway system began in January 1931, and regular service operations commenced on February 15 of the same year.
This funicular serves as a primary transportation route to Yakuri-ji, which stands as the 85th sacred temple along the traditional Shikoku Pilgrimage path.
The funicular operates throughout the year at 3378-3 Murecho Mure in Takamatsu, offering regular service for visitors traveling to the mountain temple.
The railway features a specific track gauge of 1,067 millimeters and remains the sole funicular operation managed by the Shikoku Cable company.
