Tonami Tulip Gallery

The Tonami Tulip Gallery is an indoor botanical garden in Japan housing roughly 250 tulip varieties displayed across different sections. The facility organizes flowers in distinct areas, each with its own presentation approach.

The facility grew from a tulip-growing tradition that started in 1918 when farmers in the Toyama region began cultivating bulbs. This historical practice established the knowledge base that shaped the modern space.

The flower displays follow Japanese horticultural methods, and you can see how the space arranges each type according to traditional design principles developed by local growers. This approach shapes how you move through the rooms and reflects generations of cultivation knowledge.

You can reach the garden on foot in roughly 15 minutes from Tonami Station, or you can park your car on the grounds which has space for about 80 vehicles. The location is easy to access whether you arrive by train or car.

The Under Farm section offers underground windows where you can watch the growth process of tulip bulbs directly below ground level. This view into the root zone is unusual and shows parts of the plant that remain hidden elsewhere.
