Mitsukoshi Theater

The Mitsukoshi Theater sits on the sixth floor of Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store and features a stage with a 12-meter-wide proscenium arch. The space holds 514 seats plus additional event areas, including a central hall that accommodates up to 150 seated or 200 standing guests.

The theater emerged from reconstruction efforts following the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923, opening in 1927 as Japan's first theater inside a department store. This project marked a turning point in how entertainment and shopping became intertwined in the country.
