The Shimonoseki Base is a Maritime Self-Defense Force installation in the city of Shimonoseki that maintains and repairs naval vessels. The facility uses Yoshimi anchorage as its primary mooring area within a designated sea zone bounded by local geographic landmarks.

The base was established in 1942 as part of a Western maritime operation under Yokosuka Command. In 1953, it came under Sasebo Command and developed into its current form as an independent naval facility.

The naval base maintains strong connections with local residents through organized events and training demonstrations that showcase maritime defense operations.

The base is a restricted military area not open to general public access without authorization. Visitors can observe activity from outside the perimeter or inquire about occasional public events or demonstrations that may be held.

The base sits adjacent to Ozuki Naval Air Base and uses specialized moorings called Ozuki anchorage. This proximity allows close coordination between naval and air defense operations in the region.
