九品寺, Buddhist temple in Nantan, Japan

Saiko-ji Temple features a main hall containing an ancient seated statue of Amida Nyorai Buddha alongside carefully carved wooden decorations.

The temple was established in 756 by Buddhist monk Ryoben and maintains its position as the 21st stop on the Funaigori Thirty-Three Kannon Pilgrimage.

The temple holds traditional Rokusai Nenbutsu Odori dance performances on specific Sundays before August 16th and 23rd each year.

Visitors can reach the temple through a 15-minute walk from Yoshitomi Station or park in the free lot that accommodates 10 vehicles.

The temple replaced individual graves with a communal monument in 2020, addressing the challenges of rural depopulation and aging communities.
