Futako-Tamagawa Rise, Commercial and residential complex in Setagaya-ku, Japan
Futako-Tamagawa Rise is a large mixed-use complex in Setagaya-ku that brings together retail shops, residential towers reaching 151 meters high, and office spaces. Multiple interconnected buildings form a cohesive urban environment where different functions flow into one another.
The location began developing in the 1970s when a major department store opened and established the model of a suburban shopping center. Those early foundations later enabled the site to grow into its present-day comprehensive mixed-use development.
The complex displays contemporary design principles with geometric patterns reflected in how the buildings are arranged and lit. Visitors can experience this thoughtful layout while moving through the various levels and shared spaces.
The complex is easily reached by the Tokyu Denentoshi and Tokyu Oimachi train lines, with direct connections to central Tokyo. The interior walkways and interconnected levels allow comfortable exploration of all areas in any weather.
The complex was deliberately planned next to the Tama River floodplain to take advantage of proximity to water and natural green spaces along the riverbank. This location choice shaped how the public areas and sight lines of the site are designed.
