Nakamura House

Nakamura House is a traditional residential building in Kitanakagusuku with eight preserved rooms, red tiled roofs, and high stone walls. The property includes additional structures such as a storehouse, barn, and gardens.

The house was built around 1800 and ranks among the few surviving examples of pre-World War II Okinawan architecture in the Kitanakagusuku region. It documents a period when such residential structures were an important part of local settlement patterns.

The house displays traditional Ryukyuan architectural elements using local materials and construction methods that reflect how people lived in Okinawa. You can observe how rooms were arranged for daily activities and family life in this region.
