Furukawa Art Museum, Art museum in Ikeshitachō, Japan
The Furukawa Art Museum houses over 2,800 Japanese paintings, tea sets, and art pieces in a building connected to a traditional Japanese garden.
Founded in November 1991 by entrepreneur Tamesaburō Furukawa, the museum displays his lifetime collection of artworks gathered during the 20th century.
The collection features Japanese paintings from the 1930s to 1970s, including works of Mount Fuji, cherry blossoms, and portraits by artists Yokoyama Taikan.
Located three minutes from Ikeshita Station on the Higashiyama Subway Line, the museum opens from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM with combined tickets at 1,000 yen.
The adjacent Tamesaburo Memorial Museum showcases a 1934 Sukiya-style house where visitors can experience traditional tea ceremonies in four distinct rooms.
