千葉縣立千葉東高等學校, Public high school in Inage, Chiba, Japan.
Chiba Higashi High School is a public secondary institution in the Inage district of Chiba, with contemporary buildings and facilities for academic instruction and after-school activities. The campus includes classrooms, laboratory spaces, sports grounds, and a dedicated area for cultural events used by the student body and the local community.
The school began in April 1941 as a municipal girls' institution in Chiba and took on a new character after World War II ended. It became coeducational in 1950 and received its present name in 1961 under prefectural administration.
The school has maintained an exchange partnership with Clarkston High School in Michigan since 1973, allowing students to spend weeks living with host families and attending classes together. This arrangement gives both groups direct experience of different teaching methods and daily routines on opposite sides of the Pacific.
The campus sits in a residential part of Inage and can be reached on foot or by bicycle from the nearest rail station. Classes run in 50-minute periods following a weekly rhythm that varies between days of the week.
The annual Shinonome Festival draws thousands of visitors and features a musical performance by the graduating class that is rehearsed anew each year. This tradition connects generations of former students who often return to watch their successors perform.
