Yumetsuri Bridge

Yumetsuri Bridge is a suspension bridge crossing Nakaumi Lake and connecting Matsue in Shimane Prefecture with Sakaiminato in Tottori Prefecture. It features a rigid-frame structure that allows vehicles to pass over the water without obstacles.

The bridge opened in 2004, replacing an older drawbridge that restricted vehicles to 14 tons and caused traffic bottlenecks. This change significantly improved transport connections between the two prefectures.

The name means Dream Suspension Bridge in Japanese, showing how locals value infrastructure that brings communities together. People use this crossing every day, making it part of the regular rhythm between the two prefectures.

The bridge is fully open to vehicular traffic of all weights and offers a smooth crossing experience over the water. Visitors crossing it can enjoy views of both prefectures, though visibility varies depending on weather conditions.

The crossing spans roughly 1.7 kilometers, making it one of the longest of its kind in the region. Its design allows large ships to pass underneath, which sets it apart from many other bridge crossings in the area.
