大垣車両区, Train depot in Ogaki, Japan
Ogaki Vehicle Base is a railway maintenance and service facility in Ogaki, Gifu Prefecture. The depot houses and maintains several hundred electric trains, including express and commuter units, that operate across multiple routes in the Central Japan Railway network.
The facility began as a branch of Nagahama Engine House in 1884 and became an independent operation in 1889. It relocated to its present location in 1954.
The depot maintains a collection of diverse train models, from Series 285 express units to Series 313 commuter trains, reflecting Japan's railway engineering evolution.
Visiting requires prior permission as it is an active operating facility with ongoing maintenance work. Access is limited and granted mainly for organized groups or special requests.
The facility underwent a reorganization in 2001 that separated vehicle inspection operations from driver operations into distinct departments. This specialized structure allows for more efficient management of different operational functions.
