Hiruiōzuka Kofun, Ancient burial mound in Ogaki City, Japan.
The Hiruiōzuka Kofun extends 150 meters in length and rises 13 meters high, featuring three distinct tiers and a surrounding moat system.
Built in the late 4th century, this keyhole-shaped burial mound contains three separate burial structures within a single grave pit for regional leaders.
The excavation revealed numerous ceremonial clay figures, curved jewels, glass beads, and pottery that represent burial practices of the period.
Visitors can reach the site by taking a 25-minute walk from JR Minami-Akasaka Station or using the Meihan Kintetsu bus from JR Ogaki Station.
The mound incorporates three different burial methods: a pit-style stone chamber, a clay coffin, and an in-situ wooden coffin at different locations.
