Tendaki Ravine

Tendaki Ravine is a waterfall in Hyogo Prefecture that plunges 98 meters through a steep valley surrounded by dense forest and rock formations. The narrow canyon with its sheer cliffs and constant mist creates a striking natural setting.

The Japanese Ministry of Environment recognized this waterfall as one of the country's top hundred, honoring its natural features and scale. This recognition reflects its long importance in Japan's natural landscape.

The name Tendaki means Heaven Falls, expressing how Japanese people view the power of water plunging from great heights. Visitors sense this spiritual connection as they walk through the forest and hear the roar growing louder with each step.

The hiking trail to the waterfall is roughly 1.2 kilometers one way and takes about 80 minutes, so sturdy footwear is essential. The path can be slippery, especially after rain, so visitors should walk carefully and watch their footing.

At least seven additional waterfalls appear along the path, including Meotodaki and Tsuzumigataki, before visitors reach the main cascade. This series of falls makes the entire route itself an adventure, not just the final destination.
