OSU301, Commercial building in Osu district, Nagoya, Japan.
OSU301 is a 12-story building with a glass facade in the Ōsu district of Nagoya. The glossy exterior is lit by fiber optic lights that shift between four different colors, making the building particularly visible at night.
The building was completed in December 2003 and was Nagoya's first privately funded urban redevelopment project. It combined retail, offices, and apartments from the start, marking a turning point for how the district developed.
The building houses a mix of fashion stores, specialty shops, and restaurants that reflect the busy shopping culture of the Ōsu district. This diverse retail mix shows how the place has become a meeting point for visitors and locals seeking entertainment and dining options.
The building is about 2 minutes on foot from Kamimaezu Station, making it very easy to reach. Most shops and restaurants operate during daytime hours, with some floors staying open into the late evening.
The combination of steel and reinforced concrete construction gives the building both strength and flexibility for its mixed-use purposes. This hybrid building method was an innovative choice for supporting the high density of shops and services inside.
