OSU301, Commercial building in Osu district, Nagoya, Japan.
OSU301 is a multi-story commercial building in the Ōsu shopping district of Nagoya, combining retail floors, office spaces, and residential units. The glass facade faces one of the main streets of the area, making it easy to spot from the surrounding covered arcades.
The building was completed in December 2003 as Nagoya's first privately funded urban redevelopment project. Its opening showed that the Ōsu district could attract large-scale investment and shift from a traditional market area toward a denser, mixed-use neighborhood.
The building houses a mix of fashion stores, specialty shops, and restaurants that reflect the busy shopping culture of the Ōsu district. This diverse retail mix shows how the place has become a meeting point for visitors and locals seeking entertainment and dining options.
The building sits right along the Ōsu covered arcades, so it is easy to reach on foot from Kamimaezu Station in just a few minutes. The lower floors with shops tend to be busiest during weekend afternoons, while the upper floors with restaurants stay open later into the evening.
The building's glass facade is lit at night by fiber optic lights that cycle through four different colors, turning it into a reference point after dark in the district. This was an unusual feature for a commercial building in Nagoya at the time it opened and still marks its presence along the arcade.
