Uwajima City Historical Museum, Historical museum in Uwajima, Japan
The Uwajima City Historical Museum occupies a Western-style building from 1884, presenting local artifacts and documents in multiple exhibition spaces throughout its floors.
The building originally functioned as the Uwajima Police Station until 1953, when it was moved to Nishiumi to serve as a town hall before returning to Uwajima in 1992.
The museum collection emphasizes the historical role of the Date clan, which governed the region from 1615 under the leadership of Date Hidemune.
Located at 2-4-36 Sumiyoshi-chō, the museum welcomes visitors from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily except Mondays, with free admission to all exhibition areas.
The museum building holds status as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property and stands near the historical Kabasaki Battery fortification site.
