The Uwajima City Date Museum displays artifacts, weapons, scroll paintings, and daily items from the Date clan who governed the Uwajima Domain.
The museum opened in 1974 to preserve the heritage of the Date clan, who ruled Uwajima for over 250 years during the Edo Period.
Within its collection, the museum houses a Momoyama-period painting of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, recognized as an Important Cultural Property of Japan.
Located at 9-14 Gotenmachi, the museum welcomes visitors from 9:00 to 17:00, with last entry at 16:30, and charges 500 yen for admission.
The museum exhibits numerous folding screens featuring traditional paintings and historical maps that document the evolution of Uwajima's waterfront area.
