Yukiwa Falls

Yukiwa Falls is an 80-meter waterfall in Nametoko Gorge where water descends through granite rock formations and creates swirling patterns as it plunges. The 20-meter width of the water mass generates a striking display during its descent, enhanced by the surrounding cliff walls.

The rock formations around this waterfall developed over millions of years through continuous natural erosion. This gradual geological reshaping created the gorge landscape visible today.

The falls represent an important part of Ehime Prefecture's natural landscape and are recognized in Japan's Top 100 Waterfalls ranking. Visitors come here to experience a location that holds special meaning in Japan's relationship with unspoiled nature and gorge environments.

The waterfall is easily accessible from Uwajima and can be reached in a reasonable timeframe depending on your starting point. Getting there from nearby transportation hubs is straightforward and takes about 30 to 50 minutes.

The name Yukiwa comes from the circular patterns that the falling water creates against the dark rock face. These ring-like shapes resemble snow circles, which inspired the waterfall's distinctive name.
