Owari Pedestrian Parkway, Urban parkway in Aichi Prefecture, Japan.
The Owari Pedestrian Parkway is a network of paths spanning multiple cities and towns across Aichi Prefecture that links dedicated walking and cycling zones. The route flows through different neighborhoods and provides continuous connections for both pedestrians and cyclists.
The project started as a response to transform underused urban spaces in the Aichi region into functional public areas. This initiative repurposed vacant land into a connected network of pedestrian and cycling paths.
Regular community gatherings and seasonal celebrations take place along the parkway, bringing together residents from different neighborhoods for outdoor activities.
The path network includes rest areas, information signage, and water fountains to support extended walks and bike rides. Different sections are clearly marked and offer varying levels of accessibility.
The parkway design incorporates local plant species selected to display different colors throughout each season, turning the path into a changing visual experience. This careful selection creates a natural setting that transforms throughout the year.
