Hiragishi Takadai Park, Public park in Toyohira-ku, Sapporo, Japan.
Hiragishi Takadai Park is a public park in Toyohira-ku, Sapporo, sitting on raised ground with views over the downtown area. The grass field of roughly 9,600 square meters (about 103,000 square feet) includes playground equipment and an observation platform at the upper edge of the sloping terrain.
The park opened in 1974 and was marked with a memorial stone for '74 Hatachi no Tsudoi. This dedication represented a moment in the neighborhood's growth during that period.
Its name refers to the elevated ground where it sits, with 'takadai' translating as high terrace or plateau. Families gather here during warm months to spread picnic blankets on the slope and watch the skyline in the distance.
Entry is free throughout the year and the park sits roughly five minutes on foot from Minami-Hiragishi station on the Namboku subway line. The elevated position offers open views on clear days, while the sloping grass becomes a sliding and skiing surface for children in winter.
The grassy space served as a filming location for the popular television program 'Suiyou Doudeshou' produced by Hokkaido Television Broadcasting. This late-night show brought regional recognition and later drew viewers who wanted to see the setting themselves.
