Former Nagoya Court of Appeals Building

The Former Nagoya Court of Appeals Building combines brick and granite materials in its construction, featuring a central marble staircase and large stained glass windows throughout.

Built in September 1922 under architect Yamashita Keijirō's direction, this judicial building maintained its courthouse functions until its transformation into city archives in March 1979.

The building reflects the architectural evolution of early 20th century Japan, incorporating European influences while maintaining Japanese institutional design principles.

Located at Shirakabe 1-chōme, the building opens from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, offering free parking spaces and wheelchair accessibility from Shiyakusyo Station.

The structure contains preserved detention cells and a reconstructed meeting room that displays the interior design preferences of the Taisho period.
