Aichi Prefectural Government Otsubashi Office

The Aichi Prefectural Government Otsubashi Office is an administrative building in Nagoya's Marunouchi district with six above-ground floors and a basement level. The structure covers approximately 28,000 square meters and functions as a central hub for government services.

The building was constructed in 1933 as a branch office for the Aichi Prefecture Government. It survived World War II air raids and retains its original Imperial Crown architectural style.

The building's floor plan creates the shape of a Japanese character when viewed from above, with corridors marking the division between its wings. This design choice reflects traditional thinking about harmony and balance in the space.

The office is accessible by public transit, taking the Higashiyama Line to Sakae Station and transferring to the Meijo Line to reach Shiyakusyo Station nearby. From the station, visitors can easily access the building and locate the public services they need inside.

The building features an oriental-style roof that echoes the design of nearby Nagoya Castle, creating a visual connection between the modern office and the city's historic landmarks. This architectural choice reflects the relationship between government administration and local heritage.
