Tobu Zoo, Amusement park and zoo complex in Miyashiro and Shiraoka, Japan.
Tobu Zoo is an animal and amusement park in Miyashiro and Shiraoka that covers large grounds with around 120 animal species and roughly 30 rides. A central ferris wheel offers views over both sections, while roller coasters wind between animal enclosures and green spaces.
The complex opened on March 28, 1981, under Tobu Railway and combined a zoo with amusement rides on a single site from the start. This combination made it a major leisure destination in Saitama Prefecture.
The white tiger area features traditional Asian-style architecture and allows visitors to watch these rare cats through reinforced glass panels. Few facilities across Japan keep these animals and care for them for future generations.
The park sits at Tobu-Dobutsu-Koen Station and is easily reached by train. Most rides require extra fees, so a day pass can be worthwhile for visitors planning multiple attractions.
An underground tunnel runs beneath the lion enclosure and lets visitors look up at the animals from below. The hotarium displays fireflies year-round in a dedicated exhibition room.
