Kehi no Matsubara, Pine forest and Place of Scenic Beauty in Tsuruga, Japan
The 1.5-kilometer white sandy beach contains 17,000 pine trees covering an area of 400,000 square meters along Tsuruga Bay.
The location appears in classical Japanese texts like Manyoshu and Nihon Shoki, documenting its significance for over 1,200 years.
During Emperor Shomu's reign, a legend tells of foreign invaders retreating after seeing white herons perched on pine trees, mistaking them for soldiers.
Visitors can reach the location by taking a Limited Express Shirasagi train to Tsuruga Station, followed by a 10-minute bus ride to Suruga-Kehi-no-Matsubara.
The garden features a 70-ton cobalt-colored jadeite at its entrance, representing Japan's oldest known precious stone.
